Kendall College of Art and Design aspires to be an educational community with a national reputation for excellence in creativity, learning, and scholarship. In the next five years we commit to:

Improved Learning

We will promote and demonstrate excellence in student-centered learning – in and outside the classroom – addressing intellectual growth, professional preparedness, and skills development. Specifically, we will:

  • Continually improve student learning
  • Provide an appropriate range of out-of-classroom learning opportunities for students
  • Support strong pedagogy among faculty and staff

Enhanced Community

Our students, faculty, and staff will continue to strengthen our identification with the institution. Kendall's community will promote and demonstrate increased strategic engagement with its alumni, Greater Grand Rapids, West Michigan, and beyond. Specifically, we will:

  • Provide a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally-diverse environment in which to live, learn, work, and play
  • Strengthen existing and foster new external relationships and communications
  • Create an informed college community with consistent and transparent communications and decision-making processes

Managed Growth

We will manage growth in appropriate ways and increase our national prominence and influence. Specifically, we will:

  • Strengthen Kendall's reputation and brand recognition
  • Become a center for innovation, scholarship and conferences in art and design
  • Diversify our revenue sources
