Some of the required software is not available through Kendall College of Art and Design. We do not have contracts with these software companies. As a student you are entitled to educational pricing when it is available.
We are providing the links below to help you find the software. We do not endorse any of these companies, but have purchased software through them before and know that in most cases they offer educational pricing. There are also links to software that is available as a free download. You are welcome to purchase your software from wherever you choose; this is simply for your convenience.
List of several online educational software stores: Academic Super Store, CDWG, CCV, JourneyEd, School World and Studica. Note: Studica is offering free shipping on most programs. The following is a list of software that may be required for your program (please consult the program pages on the right-hand side of the Technology Page). After each listing will be the best price found (at the time of this posting) and a link to that store.
ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE 3
Creative Suite 3 is available through Kendall College. Programs include Photoshop, Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Flash Pro, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Contribute, After Effects Pro, Premiere Pro, Soundbooth and Encore. Please see the main Software link on the Technology Page for available packages and prices.
ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS CS3 PROFFESIONAL
After Effects CS3 Professional is available as part of the Production Premium Package ($299.00) and the Master Collection Package ($499.00) through our contract with Adobe. To purchase After Effects as a single program, you can go to any of the educational software stores. The price is typically around $330.00 for just that one program.
ADOBE TYPE CLASSICS FOR LEARNING
Type Classics for Learning – $87.00 at Studica.
AMADEUS
Amadeus – $30.00 purchase and download. Go to Tucows.
APPLE BOOT CAMP
Boot Camp – comes standard with Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard) which is included on all Apple Laptops starting the end of October 2007. If you do not have OSX 10.5 then you will need to purchase this operating system to get Boot Camp. Apple Education pricing for OSX 10.5 is $116.00. Go to Apple Computer or purchase at a retail Apple Store. After installing Boot Camp, you can install Windows XP on your computer. Please note that Windows XP is not included with Mac OSX 10.5. You can purchase Windows XP through Kendall.
APPLE iLIFE
iLife comes bundled on all new Apple computers or go to Apple Computer to purchase for $79.00.
APPLE QUICKTIME PRO
Quicktime Pro – $29.00 purchase and download. While connected to the internet, open Quicktime Player (located in the Applicatons Folder on your hard drive). Click on the tab in the top left-hand corner of your screen called Quicktime Player. Scroll down to “Buy Quicktime Pro” and follow the instructions.
CYBERDUCK
Cyberduck – free download. Go to Apple Computer.
FIREFOX
Mozilla Firefox – free download. Go to Mozilla.
FLAMINGO
Flamingo 1.1 for Rhino 4 – $147.00 at Studica.
LIGHTWAVE
Newtex Lightwave – $184.00 at Studica. Lightwave can also be purchased through other online stores such as Kurvstudio or JourneyEd.
LIVETEXT
Livetext – $90.00 for 3 year license. To purchase and download, go to Livetext. Print receipt and bring to first day of class.
PAINTER
Corel Painter X – $95.00 at Studica.
RHINO
