Kim Dabbs is the director of Michigan Youth Arts (M.Y.A.). After completing her Art History degree from Kendall and receiving her M.P.A. in Nonprofit Management from the University of Michigan in 2005, Kim accepted her current position.
As a leader in her field, Kim continues to give M.Y.A. a fresh perspective on management and programming. In her short tenure, she has taken the organization through a strategic planning process, taken on an identity redesign, created a board manual that unified the board policies and information, reviewed and updated management practices, transitioned the name to be more inclusive for expanded programming, and executed programming for 16 statewide arts organizations to benefit over one million students.
Under Kim's leadership, M.Y.A. programming has expanded beyond the M.Y.A. Festival to include statewide arts education awards with grants to educators, leadership roundtables and arts education advocacy programming throughout Michigan. Kim is a 2008 Joyce Fellow recipient through Americans for the Arts and is currently spearheading a multidisciplinary arts education agenda for the state.
