Style Watch #5 - Rave Prints
By Matthew Pozsgay, Fashion Studies student designer
A fun way to update your fall wardrobe is through Rave Prints. Energized colors and bold, abstract patterns make a statement that is sure to be noticed.
This trend can be worn mix-matched to give you unique wardrobe options. Utilizing simple silhouettes of the prints will be important in selecting garment's. Also, layering with a solid color or even clear accessories will help make the garments into a outfit. These looks have been seen on the runway from designers such as Chanel, Marc Jacobs, and Versace.

Style Watch #4 - Global Goth

Trending this week is global Goth. This cool and edgy style mixes elements of spooky sport with graphic inspirations taken from vintage horror films. For an achievable Goth look pair up fabrics such as denim and leather, in dark hues such as black, charcoal greys, deep purples and garnet.
Add in wispy fabrics, mixed with the rugged fabrics mentioned above, such as leather, or wools, to create this dissonance styled look. You can also use prints to your favor, such as black and white stripes. (Think Tim Burton’s, “Beetlejuice.”) Other prints could include moons, graphics from your favorite horror film, spooky comics, bones, and etc.
This trend is all about having fun and adding in the Halloween vibes of fall into your wardrobe. A bomber jacket on over your favorite graphic tee accessorized with chunky metal jewelry and Doc Martins is a foolproof way to nail this trend.

Style Watch #2 - Denim
by Danielle Hoag, Fashion Studies student designer
It is no surprise that Denim will be in for this coming fall. Denim is easy to layer and pair with multiple tops and accessories as well as incorporate into one’s everyday wear. Because denim is so versatile, it will compliment many other pieces in your closet and create new looks that will mix up textures and fabrics.
During the fall season, indigo denim will give a deep contrasting blue amidst the autumn leaves and colors while vintage appeals, skinny jeans, and patchwork will also be a popular style. Using saturated and mid-tone blues for a transition from sportswear to high functionality, brands alike will be showing off their denim-inspired designs.

Style Watch #1 - Sweater Dresses
by Lori Faulkner, Fashion Studies Program Chair
Sweater dressing is all the rage this fall and it begins with the dress. Dresses can be long or short and are found mostly in neutral tones like tan, grey, brown, and black. Bright stripes through the neutrals were shown on the runway by the Calvin Klein Collection.
Start with a basic sweater dress in neutral tones and add color by using scarves, jackets, boots, leggings or even a hat. Mix up the warm and fuzzy theme with some denim to combine two important fall trends into one great outfit!
Guys can complete the same look with a long sweater. Layers are essential for fall and winter dressing, so use them creatively for a fashionable layered look. The boot continues to be important so choose wisely for a complete look head to toe.
