  • Retirement Party Held for Professor Sheardy

    After twenty continuous years of dedicated service to Kendall, Art History Program Chair Professor Robert Sheardy retired in May 2010. On Monday November 8, a retirement reception was held at Kendall for Professor Emeritus Sheardy.   Professor Robert Sheardy Sheardy has been a long-time fixture at Kendall. With a Masters degree in Art History, he started his teaching career in 1968 as a visiting instructor at Hope College. He spent three years there, then after teaching at Muskegon Community College for 12 years, in 1983 he was invited to take a position as Assistant Professor at what was then called Kendall School of Design.  After briefly taking time off to work on his doctorate at the University of Chicago and to teach as a visiting instructor at Grand Valley State College (now Grand Valley State University), Sheardy returned to Kendall in 1990. Professor Sheardy established the first overseas study program in 1984, and has since conducted fifteen overseas projects.
