Kendall is proud to welcome Ghada Amer

Lecture: 7:00 pm

Location: Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, 30 N Division Ave

Ghada Amer was born in Cairo in 1963; she now lives and works in New York. Amer is known for her paintings and installations in which she intricately embroiders delicate images that speak to sexuality, desire and happiness – often in ways that subtly expose the contradictions inherent in religious and feminist forms of extremism. The very act of stitching cloth reflects the artist’s play with popular understandings of feminine work, gender stereotypes and empowerment.

Please join us for a reception at 6:00 pm, preceding the lecture. This event is free and open to the public.
