Patricia Bellan-Gillen is an artist from Pennsylvania who will be showing a mixture of paintings and prints. She is currently a faculty member of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Bellan-Gillen’s narrative works incorporate symbolic elements – often represented by animals. Layered with meaning, her paintings attempt to pull the viewer in and to encourage them to bring their own knowledge base to the work yet the pieces also retain a sense of mystery.

Arizona Desert Sketches

February 12 – March 16, 2007

Illustration Professor Sandy Ringlever will share a new body of work that was created on her recent sabbatical. Ringlever spent months in the Arizona desert, sketching directly from observation. Her numerous works from this period include pastel and watercolor pieces.

Jacobo & Maria Angeles

March 26 – April 20, 2007

Kendall is excited to be hosting two artists from Oaxaca, Mexico. Jacobo and Maria Angeles will be sharing their carved and painted wood sculptures. They will be at Kendall for a week speaking about their work, demonstrating traditional carving techniques and painting using natural pigments.
