Alumna Opens Store

Janet Hampton (Illustration '94) has opened a new store, Art Art Collections, 109 Washington Ave. in downtown Grand Haven, MI. "It's a place to find unique, handmade paintings and artwork," Hampton said of her store.

Art Art Collections features a variety of mixed media – such as paintings, photography, jewelry and functional art from nine artists who live along the Lakeshore. Prices range from $20 to $50 for smaller pieces to large $2,500 paintings.

The name of the store and the store's logo – a dog barking "art art" – were created by Hampton and her daughter after a family dog. "We wanted to use the dog – and, when dogs bark, it sometimes sounds like that," said Hampton, who illustrated the store's sign as well. Shoppers may also be greeted some days by another dog – Hampton's 3-year-old rescued greyhound, Anna, who likes to come up and greet the customers.

Art Art Collections is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m. Mondays, and 1-4 p.m. on Sundays.
