American Artist Magazine Features work of Kendall Alumus
‚??Turquoise Eyes,‚?Ě a painting by Michigan artist and Kendall alumnus Kenneth Cadwallader, has been chosen for the April 2010 cover of American Artist Magazine. Cadwallader is also the subject of an article, ‚??How to Paint with Spontaneity and Insight.‚?Ě
Cadwallader seeks to reveal the individual character of his subjects through a fresh alla prima (painting wet-in-wet and completing a painting in one session) oil technique and by emphasizing the essentials: composition, values, edges, and color.
Cadwallader graduated from Kendall in 1996 with a BFA in Illustration. He went on to study at the Royal College of Art, in London, and also attended the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, in Chicago, and the Loveland Academy of Art, in Colorado. He was featured as an emerging artist in the May 2001 issue of American Artist. He has enjoyed considerable success, with his artwork featured in such other publications as Wildlife Art and The Artist‚??s Magazine. Among his many honors are awards from Arts for the Parks, Oil Painters of America, and the Portrait Society of America. He is represented by Button Gallery, in Saugatuck, MI; Simie Maryles Gallery, in Provincetown, MA; The Weatherburn Gallery, in Naples, FL; and Hildt Galleries, in Chicago, IL. He is a signature member of Oil Painters of America and a member of Grand Valley Artists, in Grand Rapids.
