Eyes on the Prize: Alum Takes Big Step Forward with Eyewear Line for Children

Posted May 31, 2017 in AlumniPhotography

For Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University alumnus Ben Harrison (’08, MFA), what started as a personal mission has since evolved into a rapidly growing business.

When his son, Jonas Paul, was born with a rare vision impairment, Harrison and his wife Laura were looking for a creative way to help. Noticing a distinct lack of stylish, contemporary eyewear options for children, the couple took matters into their own hands and designed a pair for their son themselves. Before long, they realized the potential of doing the same for children everywhere, and Jonas Paul Eyewear was born.

Started in December 2013 as a small online operation, the company has grown into a full-fledged web-based retailer and wholesaler with a brick-and-mortar location on Wealthy St. in Grand Rapids.
