Furniture Design Major is WithIt Scholarship Recipient
Senior and Furniture Design major Liz Moore is the recipient of the WithIt 2012 Jena & Stephen Hall Scholarship for students in home furnishings fields. This is the second year that Moore has received a scholarship from the association. Her award was $2,500 to defray the cost of tuition.
"We had a stellar group of young women participate, all chosen by their university faculty as outstanding students with interest in pursuing careers in the home furnishings industries," said Jackie Hirschhaut, chair of the WithIt Professional Conference and vice president of communications for the American Home Furnishings Alliance.
WithIt, a non-profit organization supporting women in the home furnishings industry, established the Jena and Stephen R. Hall Scholarships to recognize and nurture the academic endeavors of preeminent college students enrolled full-time in fields of study that would logically lead to careers in the home and furnishing industries.
The purpose of WithIt scholarships is to encourage and develop leadership, mentoring, education, and opportunities for professional women in the home and furnishing industries by providing scholarships to students deserving and possessing qualities, creativity and a desire to develop a successful career in the home and furnishings industries.
Also receiving financial assistance from the WithIt scholarship is Lane Risden, a junior in Furniture Design.
