Interior Design Major Takes First Place in National Competition

Posted February 9, 2011 in StudentAlumni

Quoc Quach, a December graduate of the Interior Design program, captured first place in the 2010 ASID Student Design Award Competition.

Entrants were challenged to explore the issue of wellness as it pertains to a particular sector of the interior design industry. Projects could span commercial and/or residential interior design, and focus on any category such as corporate, hospitality, residential, retail, education, healthcare, government, or institutional design. Students also needed to identify an issue or set of issues that face a user group within the space.

Quach's design was created in Assistant Professor Lee Davis' studio class on healthcare design. Regarding Quach, Professor Davis says, "He is a very talented and thoughtful designer who assembled research to support his ideas and then put together a presentation that wowed the ASID panel of judges: Steffany Hollingsworth, Susan Szenasy and Annette Stelmack."
