KCAD and Affiliated ArtPrize Entries Resonate with Both Jurors and Public

Posted October 2, 2015 in GalleryArtPrizePublic

When Anila Quayyum Agha’s “Intersections" won both the Public Grand Prize and half of the Juried Grand Prize in ArtPrize 2014, it marked the first time in the radically open international art competition that a single piece had captivated viewers and critics alike.

After ArtPrize unveiled its Jurors’ Shortlist and a dynamic list of the 100 entries currently leading public vote in this year’s competition earlier this week, it appears that trend is continuing. Four pieces have landed on both lists, including two featured in the “Sightlines” exhibition in The Fed Galleries @ KCAD.

Prince Thomas’ “That Was Then” is in the Public Top 25 for the Time-Based category, while Julie Green’s “The Last Supper” is in the Public Top 25 for the 3D category.

Kate Gilmore’s “Higher Ground,” featured in SiTE:LAB’s Rumsey Street Project, was also named to the Jurors’ Shortlist and is currently in the Public Top 25 for the Time-Based Category. KCAD alumnus Tom Clinton (’02, Printmaking) is SiTE:LAB’s exhibitions coordinator.
