Posted June 9, 2012 in Student

Furniture Design major junior Jacob Blok is a finalist in Atlanta, GA’s annual International Woodworking Fair’s 2012 Design Emphasis Award competition.

The purpose of the Design Emphasis Award is to offer design students a unique opportunity to demonstrate their talent and originality before a judging panel of furniture industry designers, manufacturing and retail executives, and members of the trade press who have design-oriented backgrounds. There are 50 Finalists competing in the IWF 2012 competition and the winner will be announced during this year’s show in Atlanta near the end of August.

The 50 student Finalists come from many colleges, some schools entering many students and some with more than one project. Blok was the only student entering seven different projects, each one an outstanding finalist. In 2011, his junior year, Blok was a recipient of the Celia Moh Scholarship, which is presented to outstanding Furniture Design students for the remaining years of their college experience. In addition, the American Society of Furniture Designers named Blok the third place winner of the Student Design Challenge 2011.
