News Bites: Art History Alum Immersed in Unique Research Project

Posted May 2, 2014 in AlumniNews BitesArt History

Alum Hillary Presecan (’08, Art History) has had quite the journey since graduating from KCAD. After receiving her degree she spent 27 months in North Africa as a Peace Corps Youth Developer before a special Peace Corps Coverdell Fellowship allowed her to pursue a Master’s Degree in rural development from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Now in her final year of graduate study, Presecan is currently finishing her master’s project – the digital preservation of 40 years of dance footage from the Festival of Native Arts Cultural Database. Her work on the archival project has led to another opportunity: beginning this June, Presecan will be assisting with a film documentary of a special Smithsonian Institution exhibit that’s on temporary loan for a decade in Alaska.
