News Bites: Furniture Design Senior Wins Prestigious Celia Moh Scholarship for 2014-2015
Furniture Design senior Heather Seto has been selected to receive the Celia Moh Scholarship for 2014-2015, joining a long list of KCAD alumni who have been honored with the award since its inception in 2001.
The Celia Moh Scholarship is considered one of the preeminent academic scholarship programs for students bound for careers in the home furnishings industry, paying full-time tuition and fees, room board and books for its recipients. In addition, the scholarship hosts an annual networking and resource-building trip to the High Point Market, the nation's largest home furnishings trade show, and provides informal internship and career guidance for its scholars, as well as offering an active alumni network for former scholars who are now in the home furnishings industry.
“The Celia Moh Scholarship is a powerful asset for our students, because it helps to nurture their development both in and out of the classroom,” said Furniture Design Program Chair Gayle DeBryun. “Heather is a gifted and deserving student, and I’m confident she’ll take full advantage of the opportunities this achievement offers her to grow her professional network and expand her skills and experience. She’s positioning herself for a very dynamic senior year. “
Scholarship candidates are selected by their respective universities and then must complete an extensive application questionnaire, write a personal essay, obtain instructors’ recommendations, and provide a college transcript illustrating exceptional academic achievement. A scholarship committee selected the students from a pool of candidates from eight universities across the country.
