Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) Associate Professor and General Education Program Chair Adam Schuitema recently had his debut novel Haymaker named to the 2016 list of Michigan Notable Books.

The list, released annually by the Library of Michigan, selects just twenty books to honor each year and serves to bring attention to the many talented authors with ties to Michigan.

Published in April 2015, Haymaker takes place in a small town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula that becomes increasingly entangled in heated contemporary ideological debate. This is Schuitema’s second inclusion on the Michigan Notable Books list, his first having been in 2011 with his short story collection Freshwater Boys.
