News Bites: Illustration Student Wins Scholarship from Society of Illustrators

Senior Illustration student Alexandra Johnson has been awarded the $500 Jonathan LeVine Gallery Blurred Line Scholarship by the Society of Illustrators as a part of the organization’s annual Student Scholarship Competition.

Johnson’s piece, “When I’m Down You’re Up,” was one of over 300 works that were chosen to recieve a scholarship from more than 8,700 entries submitted by professors of college-level students nationwide. Entries in the competition are evaluated by a jury of professionals on quality of technique, concept, and skill of medium used.

12 other KCAD students also submitted work into the competition. Along with Johnson, those students will have their work included in a gallery show to be held at the Museum of American Illustration in New York City from May 7 – May 31.
