News Bites: Industrial Design Alum’s Invention Gets Rave Reviews from DrumHead Magazine

Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) alumnus Wes Keely (’15, Industrial Design) recently had a piece of music equipment he invented reviewed in Drumhead Magazine.

The invention, called KBrakes, is a pair of nylon attachments designed to keep kick drums from sliding forward while being played. Keely created the gear while a student at KCAD with additional financial assistance from local seed funding organization Start Garden.

The piece in Drumhead Magazine gives Keely’s KBrakes rave reviews, praising the product’s combination of affordability and effectiveness as well as the way in whch it’s designed to fit any drum kit and to fold flat, keeping transportation and packaging of the kick drum simple.
