News Bites: Interior Design Grad Wins 25th Annual Ghiordes Knot Creative Space Competition
2014 Interior Design grad Chelsea Stafford has won first place and $800 in the 25th annual Creative Space design competition held by Troy, MI-based decorative rug and carpet company The Ghiordes Knot. Patrick Jackson, also a 2014 graduate of the program, took home an honorable mention.
The competition challenges students to hand-render a 3D room design that incorporates one of The Ghiordes Knot’s custom pieces, putting both their design and illustration skills to the test. Stafford took top honors with her rendering of a cozy living room/dining room space featuring an open floor plan and beautiful wood and leather furniture.
Jackson took a much different approach with his rendering placing the Ghiordes rug at the center of a serene and sparsely furnished room overlooking the ocean through arched French windows.
The Ghiordes Knot Creative Space competition is open to all students of American Society of Interior Designers (ASID ) affiliated schools, and has been held every year for the past 33 years. KCAD’s interior design students have competed annually for more than a decade.
