Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) MFA Drawing student Brianna Baurichter will be performing at the College Art Association (CAA) Annual Conference, which is being held in Washington D.C. from February 3-6.

Baurichter, who has been experimenting recently with performance work, will be taking part in the annual CAA Conference program ARTexchange, a pop-up exhibition during the conference that allows artists to showcase their work in a 6’x6’ space. This event creates room for discussion surrounding the work on display and allows artists to get both exposure and feedback.

Baurichter will be recreating part of her performance piece “Against Self-Sabotage,” which was originally staged as part of a weeklong event at KCAD in the sixth floor drawing installation room.

During the performance, she will be sitting on the floor with a piece of paper, a bowl of water, and some charcoal. Visitors will be invited to join Baurichter in using the paper to grind the charcoal into powder and then sprinkle it into the bowl of water.
