News Bites: MFA Photography Student’s Work Featured in Gay Weddings and Marriage Magazine

Posted October 15, 2015 in StudentPhotographyMaster of Fine Arts

MFA Photography student Ashley Young’s talents grace the cover of the recently released fall 2015 issue of Gay Weddings and Marriage Magazine.

The cover photo came from a shoot Young conducted earlier this summer of a wedding at a private residence in Michigan (you can see the photos and read the feature article on Young here).

Young, who works professionally under the name Ashley Paige, has been operating her own photography studio – APaige Photography – since 2011, focusing primarily on weddings and individual sessions. Her feature in Gay Weddings and Marriage Magazine is just the latest in a long line of publications; to date, Young’s work has been featured by over 30 online blogs and wedding magazines.

Much of the publicity Young receives is a result not just of her skill behind the camera, but also of her connective mindset. She’s an active member of Two Bright Lights and The Black Sheep Bride, organizations that help different vendors in the wedding industry network together. Through The Black Sheep Bride, Young also dedicates a portion of her work time to conducting pro-bono photo shoots aimed at promoting positive self-image and self-confidence in her subjects.

In addition to running her own business and pursuing her MFA at KCAD, Young also passes her experience and skills on to aspiring photographers as an adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University.
