News Bites: Recent Illustration Grad Wins Merit Award from 3X3 Magazine
Recent Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) graduate and 2016 Excellence Award winner Fan Wu (’16, Illustration) has added new accolades to his résumé, having won both Merit and Honorable Mention awards in the 2016 Student Show held by contemporary illustration magazine 3x3.
Founded in 2003, 3x3 seeks to showcase the best contemporary illustrators from across the globe. In addition to its periodic issues, the magazine also publishes a special annual issue each year.
Wu received a Merit Award for his three-part series “Boy and His Friends.” The three pieces will be included in the forthcoming thirteenth annual issue of 3x3.

Last year, Wu received an honorable mention nod for a picture book he submitted to the magazine’s 12th annual issue.
“I am really honored and excited that some of my illustrations have been selected for the 3x3 International Illustration Student Show No. 13 as Merit and Honorable Mention award winners,” he says. “Believe in yourself and what you are doing. Never stop working at what you love the most.”
