Furniture Design Student Stacey Folker Awarded Celia Moh Scholarship
KCAD Furniture Design Junior Stacey Folker was among the seven students who were recently selected to receive the prestigious Celia Moh Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The Celia Moh Scholarship is widely considered to be among the preeminent award programs for individuals studying in home furnishing fields, largely due to the scope of its support. The scholarship pays full-time tuition and fees, room, board, and books for an entire academic year, and additionally enables winning students to attend High Point Market, the largest home furnishings industry trade show in the world. This annual event provides the scholarship award winners the opportunity to build valuable networking connections and resources. In the long-term, the scholarship program provides internship and career guidance to winning students, and offers the support of a strong community of former award winners who are now industry professionals.
Established in 2001 by Lance Moh, founder of Universal Furniture and Fine Furniture Design, the scholarship supports students in home furnishing fields, providing 80 full scholarships over twelve years that have totaled almost $3.7 million in student funding. To qualify, applicants must complete a questionnaire, write a highly developed personal essay, furnish instructor recommendations, and provide official transcripts as evidence of exceptional academic achievement.
Folker joins a growing list of KCAD students, many of them now alumni, who have been named Celia Moh Scholars.
