Portfolio Development for the Emerging Artist
Monday - Friday, July 12-16, 9:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m.
Take your art to the next level! Concept development, alternative media and processes, and avenues for marketing your fine art will all be covered in this workshop. You will make progress toward your goal, whether it is to create a portfolio for college entrance interviews, to approach a gallery, or simply to create a cohesive body of work. Participants will have the opportunity to bring in images of their artwork for feedback, as well as utilizing the time in the studio to jump-start a new body of work. Wherever you are in the process, this class can be tailored to your needs. You will leave refreshed, inspired and on track to pursue your artistic goals. Tuition: $395, supplies additional. Cottage Style Design
Tuesday - Friday, July 6-9, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Explore cottage style and the history of cottages in the United States, including lake cottages, camps, cabins, ocean cottages, Maine style, Nantucket style, New Port Rhode Island style, shingle style, rustic style, Adirondack style, Southern and California styles, Carpenter Gothic, and Michigan style. You will design your own dream cottage by laying out the floor plan to understand how the space will be used. Make selections of furniture, fabrics, colors, flooring, lighting and cabinetry. Study cottage furniture including wicker, twig, log, rustic, primitive, painted, antique, and homemade. Learn about fabrics, both indoor and outdoor, slipcovers, rugs, curtains, and bedding. Study cottage gardens, patios, porches, and other types of outdoor living spaces to enhance the area surrounding your cottage. Field trips to antique shops, gardens, patio shops, and cottage tours are a part of this class. So bring your Bermuda’s and your enthusiasm for a fun summer class! Tuition: $319, supplies additional.
