Urban Graphics
Interested in urban and contemporary art? Study artists like Keith Haring while you learn tagging, lettering, stenciling, and wheat pasting. Do this as you work toward your final exhibition piece, a collaborative mural. -
NEW! iPod Painting
Learn to paint using your iPod. If you own an iPod Touch or iPhone, you will need to download Colors for a small fee! It will allow you to create digital paintings. That's it! You're good to go! The real draw of using a portable device like the iPod as an art tool is portability. As such, there will be a focus on painting on-location to capture environments and people. -
Creating Comics from Start to Finish
Go through the professional process of making a comic strip. In this class you will learn the basic skills of drawing: proportion, perspective, and expression. Everything from scripts, to penciling, to inking, to lettering a comic will be covered. -
Painting with Acrylics
Learn techniques such as textural painting, surface preparation, color mixing and glazing with acrylic paint. You will create paintings of objects, people, and landscapes. -
Video Game Design
Learn basic skills on Adobe Flash®, while creating your own interactive video game designs. -
Introduction to Photography with a Digital Camera
Explore the basics of photography. Develop an “eye” for subject matter and composition. A digital camera is required for this class.

Urban Drawing
Study the history of landscape drawing, both contemporary and historical, while working in an exciting urban environment. Develop an understanding of form, shape, line, and composition, while exploring how colors move, blend, and create space. Travel to a variety of locations around the downtown area. -
Interior Design Fun
Learn about a career as an interior designer. Look at floor plans, basic color theory and how to use a scale for space planning. You will complete a final project board based upon your interests. -
Digital Drawing and Painting
In the digital world, the possibilities are endless. Using Adobe Photoshop and other software, learn skills and tricks that will change the way you do artwork. In this class we will cover everything from how to make a photo float above a city or sidewalk, to how to paint and color your photos and drawings using the computer. -
How to Manga
Learn the ins and outs of character design and illustration in the distinctive style of Japanese animation and Manga. You will study the methods and techniques of figure drawing and creating expressive characters while discovering the rich history of this eastern art form and its many styles. (NOTE: if you have taken this class previously and still have your supplies, you do not need to pay the supply fee.) -
Introduction to Metals/Jewelry
Learn about the art of metalsmithing and jewelry fabrication, while crafting a finished piece in precious metal to wear or give as a gift. Learn designing, soldering, sawing, filing, buffing, polishing, incorporating stones into their settings, and finishing techniques. -
Fun with Digital Audio
Make a cd of your own electronic music using some of today’s best new software. It’s fun and easy, and no previous musical experience is required. -
Charcoal Figure Drawing
Gain experience with drawing the human figure from a live, clothed model. You will learn about line weight, basic skeletal structure, proportion, gesture, composition, and charcoal drawing techniques.

Promote your band, your club, or just your own individuality! Brush up on camera basics and Photoshop in this class too.

Fashion Illustration for Teen Designers
For teen designers, this course will teach you how to put your fashion ideas on paper. Create a fashion figure, render a variety of fabrics, and learn basic design elements of garments. (NOTE: if you have taken this class previously and still have your supplies, you do not need to pay the supply fee.) -
How to Manga II
Building on the foundations laid in Manga I, this class takes the basics of Japanese Manga-style figure drawing and turns up the action. In Manga II, you will learn to draw dynamic characters and action sequences, and begin to look at turning basic character designs into full-fledged Manga comics. (NOTE: If you have taken any Manga class here previously and still have your supplies, you do not need to pay the supply fee.) -
Painting with Oils
Explore oil painting in this class, suitable for beginners or more advanced oil painters. Learn about palette preparation, color mixing, surfaces, glazing, and much more. Subject matter will include still life, landscape, and portraiture. -
Internet Cartoons
Use Adobe Flash® to create your own animated cartoon. Buttons, animation short cuts, scene management, and simple scripting will be the focus. Learn each tool in depth while creating short animations.

Learn how to design and draw characters, vehicles, nosters, and more from the popular fantasy genre: Steampunk! Using traditional comic book and video game concept art techniques, you will conceptualize designs, revise and refine them, and create finished polished works of art. -
Prismas Plus
Learn to make photo-realistic drawings using PrismaColor(R) pencils and your own color photograph. You will learn how to choose the correct colors for achieving high realism. -
Advanced Fashion Illustration (Ages 15 and up)
For older teen designers who have completed the introductory class, this class will center around creating a portfolio of fashion plates that can be used for college entrance interviews. -
Advanced Drawing
Continue to improve your drawing skill and ability to "see" while trying new drawing materials and techniques. Create works on a medium to large scale, using both the figure and still life as sources. Study the works of famous artists from the Renaissance through Contemporary as inspiration for your work. (NOTE: if you have taken this class previously and still have your supplies, you do not need to pay the supply fee.) -
How to Manga Iii
Having fully explored the art of figure drawing in the Japanese animation style from the previous Manga classes, this class teaches you to create your own Manga comics. You will focus on panel structure, storytelling, composition and the craft work involved in drawing and inking Japanese-style comics of all forms. All students must have completed Manga I and II. **Note: If you have supplies from a previous Manga class, you do not need to purchase the supply packet.) -
Video Game Design
Learn basic skills on Adobe Flash, while creating your own interactive video game designs. -
How to Manga Iv
In this class you will be introduced to the world of grayscale and full-color illustration in the Anime and Manga world. You will learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop and how to take your illustrations to the next level with digital color and special effects. All students must have completed at least one Manga class at Kendall prior to taking this class.

Intro to Painting
Study the art of well known contemporary painters and learn basic techniques. Using acrylic paint, create one or two paintings of your own. -
Digital Photography
Study the layout and intricacies of your digital camera and learn what makes a good picture. Then learn how to download your photos onto a computer with tips and techniques for making corrections, cutting and pasting, and more. Your own point and shoot digital camera is required for this class. -

Experiment with different approaches to drawing the human figure with a variety of media. Problems of composition and proportion will be explored, using clothed models. -
Theater Games
Through “play”, learn team-building and confidence while unlocking individual creativity and expression using theater games, dramatics, and storytelling. You will be energized and inspired in unscripted, spontaneous performance practices resulting in fun, fun, fun!
