Day camps are offered 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A brown-bag lunch from home is suggested. Kendall staff will supervise activities during lunch break. Drawing Robots and Warriors

Have fun learning basic drawing and construction of characters for futuristic adventure! You will create heroes and villains of cosmic proportions, and get tips on drawing jetpacks, laser guns, and spaceships. A perfect class for the young but eager Jedi!
NEW! Stage Your Own Play

Answer the curtain call and learn what goes on backstage in the theater. The class will choose scenes from a play such as "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" or "Alice in Wonderland," and then learn the steps to production. You will design sets and costumes from recycled materials, and find out how to be the director. Then work backstage or step into the spotlight when you end the week with a performance.
Stop Motion Animation

Teamwork helps you communicate your ideas more effectively in art. Building on the story-boarding process: brainstorming, sketching, acting, and discussion, you will create a Play-doh project, which you will film and animate. The animation process includes set design, character design, directing, operating a camera, and editing. You will have an opportunity to use some of the latest software for your final production.
Digital Movie Making

Learn the entire production cycle of movie making including planning, shooting, and editing your own video project using some of today's best software. Your own video camera is required for this class.
Restyled Fashion
August 8-12, 2011Ages 13-17
Recycle old garments and found objects such as soda caps or plastic bags into altered couture! Examples include making old jeans into a jacket, or a garment purchased at Goodwill into something new to wear! You will sketch your fashion ideas first and then go to the sewing machine to create them.

Think attending art college is in your future? Get a jump on the competition by building a portfolio of drawings based on observation. Focus of the basics of composition and rendering in this day camp which will include studies based on still life and clothed models. Class will also include drawing on location around Grand Rapids.
