Portfolio Camp

Develop a portfolio suitable for college entrance interviews and scholarship competitions.

Work to expand your drawing skills and experience new media in a college setting. Students will work on drawing from observation Monday through Thursday, with break out sessions each day. On Tuesday and Thursday guest instructors will lead break out sessions in 3D design and graphic design. Fridays will be spent on portfolio preparation. Critiques with Portfolio Camp instructors and college faculty are scheduled regularly. An optional gallery tour with dinner is planned on the first Friday.

Portfolio Camp 2013

Camps will be held:

  • July 8-19, 2013, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Eligibility

Students ages 16-18 are eligible. Students must submit a letter of recommendation from their art teacher with their application, along with a CD of digital images of five works of art, including two observational drawings. You will be notified by mail of acceptance within one week of receipt of your completed application.

Housing

Housing is offered at a local bed & breakfast under the supervision of a full-time Resident Advisor, who accompanies students to and from Kendall each day. Students will share rooms with other Portfolio Campers, with no more than three students per room. Cost for housing package which includes breakfast each day, two pizza nights per week, transportation, and use of kitchen facilities is: $1,000.

Registration

Cost for Portfolio Camp is $750.00. In addition students must bring their own art supplies. A 50% deposit is due with your application to Portfolio Camp. Final payment is due no later than one week after you receive your acceptance letter, and no later than the day before camp begins. To register call: 616.451.2787, ext. 3012. Refunds

A full refund will be issued to students who are not accepted into Portfolio Camp. A full refund of tuition and fees will be issued for withdrawal requests received in writing on or before the final registration deadline of July 1. A $100 administrative fee will be charged for withdrawal requests submitted in writing after the registration deadline, but before camp begins. A pro-rated refund will be issued for withdrawal requests submitted after camp begins, and a $100 administrative fee will be charged. There will be no refunds issued after the first full week of camp.
