Student Exhibition: Artifacts of Anxiety
Artifacts of Anxiety
work by KCAD Drawing student Jordan Owens
April 13–24, 2018
Performance: April 16, 2018 | 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Artifacts of Anxiety is a collection of real-life struggles with anxiety. The artist, an undergrad student at KCAD, has struggled with anxiety since she was eight years old. In preparation for this show, she has reached out to her community to collect stories from others impacted by anxiety. The stories come together to form an immersive environment that captures the daily efforts put forth by those with anxiety. The show will include works inspired by these stories, as well as a performance piece on the opening day of the show.
Anxiety is diagnosed in nearly 41 million Americans every year, and every one of them has a different manifestation of the illness. The artist’s goal of this show is to bring a heightened awareness to the often overlooked aspects of anxiety.
