Student Exhibition: Hallowed
April 9-16, 2018
Opening reception: April 13, 2018, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Providing a common ground for artists, mediators, admirers, and the general public, Hallowed is a gallery exhibition organized and curated by Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) students, undergrad and graduate alike. By utilizing the common motif of the shrine as a point of departure, the artists will work cooperatively to transform the ordinary gallery into a space for contemplation and reflection.
The shrine, as it is commonly understood, is a place dedicated to the worship of something sacred. The works shown will embody this idea through each artist’s perception of what a shrine means to them. The gallery space will become a constructed environment reminiscent of a devotional space, and will challenge viewers to question what they themselves consider “holy." Don’t miss the opportunity to take a trip inside the psyche of these students, and perhaps even your own.
