Sarah Joseph has been the Director of Exhibitions at Kendall since 2001. She received her MFA in Sculpture from the University of Oregon and BFA from Miami University in Ohio. Prior to joining Kendall, she spent a number of years doing gallery/museum work in various institutions. In addition to her position at KCAD she has served as an officer in the Grand Rapids Gallery Association since 2003.
Curator of ExhibitionsEmail Michele
Michele earned her BFA in Sculpture from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2004 and her MFA in Drawing and Sculpture along with a Certificate in Museum Studies from Northern Illinois University. During this time, she held an assistantship position as Preparator at the NIU Art Museum. Upon graduating she moved to Michigan and took a Preparator’s position at Grand Valley State University while also curating independent exhibitions. During her time in Michigan she has been involved in the local arts community and served on the Visual Arts Curatorial Committee for eight years at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art. Michele joined the Gallery in 2009 as the Assistant Director of Exhibitions.
Lead PreparatorEmail Tanya
Tanya Bakija is the Lead Gallery Preparator at Kendall College of Art & Design. She is an important behind-the-scenes player for the exhibitions at Kendall, ensuring that each installation is executed successfully. She received her BFA from Michigan State University and MFA from Kendall.
Assistant PreparatorEmail Steven
Steven Vinson is the Assistant Preparator. He is also the owner of Spiral Gallery and is an adjunct faculty member both at KCAD and GVSU. He received a BFA from Herron School of Art and Design and MFA in Painting from Kendall.

Sara Idziak received her BS in Art History from KCAD. She has served as a docent for KCAD and Women's City Club, and has participated in a variety of art history events in Grand Rapids.
Exhibitions AssistantEmail Mike
Mike has been with the KCAD Gallery team since 2013. He received his BFA from Grand Valley State University in 2011 with an emphasis in Visual Studies. In addition to his work at the Gallery, he is an active member in the local arts community serving on the board of the Division Avenue Arts Collective (DAAC), and the Avenue for the Arts Advisory Committee.
The KCAD Galleries also rely on our fantastic crew of student workers. They assist with exhibition installations, greet gallery visitors, and accomplish a wide range of ever-changing tasks. Thanks crew!
