News Bites: MFA Student featured in national exhibition of women’s art

MFA Painting student Aj Cooke has been accepted into “From Our Perspectives: A National Women’s Art Exhibition,” a national juried exhibition running from September 18 through October 17 at The Wallace Smith Theatre Gallery at Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills, MI.

According to Detroit-based artist Mary Rousseaux, who served as the juror for this year’s exhibition, “The works in this show speak about the emotive expressions of the self, how we relate to others and the internal dialogue that plays out within. Colors and surface tensions begin to evoke a rich tapestry that draws the viewer into the image creating a conversation.”
