News Bites: Sculpture and Functional Art Alum Receives $10,000 Windgate Project Grant
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) alum Dustin Farnsworth (’10, Sculpture and Functional Art) has been awarded one of three $10,000 Windgate Project Grants from the Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design (CCCD).
Last year, CCCD announced plans to award ten such grants over the course of three years to former recipients of the organization’s Windgate Fellowship Award for the purposes of completing and presenting a new body of work.
Farnsworth, who was named a Windgate Fellow in 2010 just after graduating from KCAD, will be working as an artist-in-residence at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, South Carolina, where he plans to conduct on-site interviews with local youth and use the audio and video from the interviews as components of the work he’ll be creating.
Farnsworth is also currently featured in "Encounters, a solo exhibition at the Huntsville Museum of Art in Huntsville, Ala. Click here for more information.
