Now is Good: Alum Earning Acclaim After Discovering Affinity for Art

Posted April 19, 2017 in AlumniNews BitesIllustration

Often, the journey to a life as an artist begins at a young age. Adventuresome alumna Donna Rey-Taylor, however, is proving that “now” is always a good time to begin.

Since attending Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) after her time as a stay-at-home mother, Rey-Taylor (NG) has made a name for herself with her works in watercolor, oil, graphite, and colored pencil that are inspired by the natural world. In 1999, she was chosen as one of America’s top artists by the New York-based Society of Illustrators.

Recently, Rey-Taylor, who is currently based in Boyne City, Mich., displayed a series of 10 paintings focused on Mackinac Island in an exhibition at the state capitol building in Lansing. She’s also exhibited work recently throughout north-central Michigan at Charlevoix Circle of Art, the Crooked Tree Arts Center, the Boyne Arts Collective, and the Jordan River Arts Council.
